Could Someone Give me Advice on Building Meaningful Connections Through DownToMeet?

Hello there,

I am new to DownToMeet and am looking for some guidance on how to make the most out of this platform to build genuine connections with people who share similar interests. I have already explored a few meetups and events; but I feel like I am not fully tapping into the potential of the platform.

I have found a few events related to these interests; but I am struggling to find ways to connect on a deeper level with others who attend these events. I would love to hear from anyone who has successfully used DownToMeet to form lasting friendships or professional relationships.

How do you approach making meaningful connections at meetups? Are there particular strategies or conversation starters that have worked well for you?

What tips do you have for following up after an event? I want to ensure that my efforts to connect with people don’t end after the event but instead lead to ongoing interactions.

Also, I have gone through this post; https://forum.downtomeet.com/t/how-to-move-your-meetup-group-from-other-platforms-to-downtomeet-power-apps/ which definitely helped me out lot.

Are there any features on DownToMeet that you find particularly useful for fostering connections? I want to ensure I am utilizing all available tools and options.

Thanks in advance for your help and assistance. :innocent:

My suggestion would be to use DTM to gather your group members, but use Every right and Facebook to direct and advertise your group.

If you asked everyone to complete their profile then you would see from that which topics they are interested in. Then you would have a subject to talk about when you meet them. There is always the post event review option where people could be encouraged to give the event a rating and say a few words about their thoughts on it. I send private messages to members if they havent been seen for a while to make sure they are ok. I think this helps people to feel incuded and important. Another tool I use on here is the forum option where I post interesting pages on subjects related to my group or what has been discussed on recent outings we have had.
